英検1級ライティングで超有効な対策として

「汎用性」にこだわって全てを類題化する

ことが可能かを検証するシリーズ第2弾です。

前回のコラムを見た準1級受験者の方から

問合せを頂きました。

「英検準1級でも同じ戦略が有益でしょうか？」

英検準1級に限らず全ての級で同じ戦略となります。

僕の子供は小学5年生ですが、普通の環境で塾にも行かずに、

英語学習開始1年2か月で英検準2級を取得しています。

秘訣はライティングと2次面接に対する戦略にあります。

全ての問題を類題化するだけです。

特に2次面接で効果が出ます。

具体的な方法論はそのうち公開します。

しばらくは、英検1級ライティングのあらゆる問題を

類題化した答案を公開していきます。

制限時間25分。　一切調べたりせずに本番と同じ状況で

ノート2冊分、約80題書いたストックまだまだがあるのです。

前回も書きましたが、

英語の先生方、英検1級取得済の方は決して見ないでください。

スペリングミス、コロケーションの誤りなどもあると思います。

あえて、そのまま公開するには明確な意図があります。

英検ライティングには既に定番になっている書籍があります。

いずれも洗練された完璧な英語を確認できます。

動画では英検対策の専門家、

一ノ瀬安 先生

が模範答案をたくさん公開されています。

僕自身も勉強させて頂きました。

そのうえで、学習者視点から考えると、

理由・表現の使いまわしを避けた

完璧に洗練された満点答案よりも必要なのは、

合格ラインギリギリの線をつく現実答案

だと考えます。

この現実答案がどこを探しても見つかりません。

また、合格ラインの英語レベルが示されることもありません。

これは僕自身がかつて英検1級の受験準備をしている時に

最も困った事なのです。

さて、今回は

3個目の理由が思いつかない場合の逃げ方

にも焦点を当てています。

この戦略は以前のコラムでも詳述していますが、

あくまでも保険としての戦略です。

「3個目の理由が既に述べた理由と結局は被ってるやん」

となって本番でスタックした人は多いはずです。

むしろ、3個の理由がスパっと思いつくことなんて

まず無いですよね。

その場合には逃げの戦略で見切り発車すべきです。

減点はあると思いますが、時間オーバーによる

ダメージは絶対に避けねばなりません。

3個目の理由が思いつかない場合は、

第4パラグラフ冒頭を、On the other hand, にして

自分の立場の対立見解を述べるのでした。

それを続くconclusionのパラグラフで否定したうえで、

自分の見解が優位であると述べるのです。

具体的答案を示す前に、

ライティング答案作成の原則を再確認してください。

⑤ 第1パラグラフ第3文で理由3個を名詞化して列挙

⑥ 文末分詞構文を用いて因果関係明示

①　イントロでは、
　　There have been a lot of debates and discussions about whether 主題が是か非か
　　
　　コンクルージョンでは、In conclusion を避けて、
　　When taking these factors mentioned above into consideration, it is obvious that 主張


② 第2パラグラフで1個目の理由提示では、First, を避けて
　 One of the main reasons for my argument is ～


③ 第4パラグラフで3個目の理由提示では、Third, を避けて
　 In addition to these aspects, what we have to keep in maind is that ～


④ 第1パラグラフの第2文から『譲歩』で強いアーギュメントを打ち出す。
　
　 両論併記になることから、字数稼ぎにもなります。
　
対立見解は1個の提示なので、すぐに思いつくため、時間も短縮できます。以下例文。
　
Some people argue that 対立見解 . This may be the case to some extent but I still strongly believe that 主張


⑤ 第1パラグラフで理由3個を名詞化して列挙します。
第2～4パラグラフでその理由を展開する際に、
第1パラグラフを見ながら構成を練ることが可能になり、
　英文がスムーズに書けます。
　対策本の模範解答ではたまに最終パラグラフで
　理由3個をまとめてますが、
　第1パラグラフに出現させる方が有利です。

⑥ 完全文, thus leading to/creating/bringing about 結果　　　

「情報マシマシ」の技術です。
　
　以下例文。
　
　This means mutual understanding and respect will develop, thus creating world peace and stability.


⑦ パラグラフ2～4の第2文以降で、第1文を具体化、詳述する場合の詐欺的フレーズです。
　
　以下例文。
　According to experts, technological transfer into third world can be contributing factor
to dealing with this problems.

　上記のexpertsが実在するか否かは英検の採点基準になりません。
　
　よってある意味、詐欺的ではありますが万能フレーズとして重宝します。

安楽死の利点は問題点に勝るか?

① human dignity
② medical costs
③ terminally-ill patients

　　There have been a lot of debates and discussions about whether the benefit of euthanasia outweigh the disadvantages. Some people argue that there are many problems about mercy killing but I believe it will have beneficial effects on society by protecting human dignity, reducing medical cost, and elimination of agonizing pain from terminaly patients.

　　One of the main reasons for my argument is that people have a right to die with dignity. Modern medical treatments are tend to have a premise that patients want to live longer no matter what situations they are in. This is fundamentaly wrong because no doctors have a right to violate the dignity of patients.

　　 Second, what we also have to keep in mind is that euthanasia can be a contributing factor to alleviating the finansial burden on patients, their families, and governments. Keeping patients with no hope of recovery alive by life perserving macines can give people unnecessarly agony and pain, which is unacceptable.

　　On the other hand, oppornants point out that mercy killing can be heavy mental burden on doctors. They also argue that it will undermine the progress of medical science. This is the case to some extent, but I still believe deprivation of dignity should not be permited under no circumstances.

　　When taking these points mentioned above into consideration, it is obvious that overall, the benefit of euthanasia outweigh the disadvantages.

原子力発電は促進すべきか?

① radioactive wasts
② risk of being a target of terrorism
③ clean energy
　　▼▲
　fossil fuel → CO2 emissions

　　There have been a lot of debates and discussions about whether nuclear power should be promoted. Some people argue that it would be beneficial effects on society by reducing CO2 emissions. However, I believe it should not be promoted due to problem of radio active wastes, risk of being a target of terrorism, and potential of promosing clean energy.

　　One of teh main reasons for my argument is that we have not yet find out how to dispose radioactive wastes. Experts estimate that it will take at least few thothands years to lawer the radioactive levels of nuclear wastes. This means our future genenerations have to take responsibility for solving this matter, which is unacceptable.

　　 Second, there has been growing concern about a possiblity of being a target of terrorism. In fact, incidents of syber attacks have been reported in Iran and South Corea. In light of national security, therefore, promoting nuclear power plants is not losical.

　　 On the other hand, some point out that nuclear power is relatively ecofriendly compered to fossilfuels. However, there are some promissing clean energyies like methan-hydrate. According to experts, the practical use of this abundant energy sourse will enable the world to be free from energy problem forever.

　　 When taking these factors into consideration, it is obvious that nuclear power should not be promoted.

まとめ

3個目の説得力ある理由が思いつかない。

または、既出の理由と内容が被る場合。

第4パラグラフから On the other hand で

対立見解を述べたうえで否定するのです。

つまり〈譲歩〉の構成にすればよいのです。

ただし、積極利用はお勧めしません。

字数制限から考えて3個の合理的理由を

提示する方が強いアーギュメントになります。

また「逃げの戦略」であることは採点者にも伝わります。

ある程度の減点は覚悟したうえで現場判断しましょう。

あくまで保険として自己責任で用いてください。
